What Is a Volume Profile?
The volume profile displays traded volume not as a vertical histogram below the chart, but horizontally on the price axis. This makes it visible at which price levels particularly high or low volume was transacted.
The volume profile produces central reference points such as the Point of Control (POC), the Value Area with VAH and VAL, and High Volume Nodes (HVN) and Low Volume Nodes (LVN). These levels serve institutional traders as orientation for entries, stops, and targets.
The volume profile is a core component of Auction Market Theory and shows where the market accepts value and where it rejects it.
